Fragmented body parts, subjects with missing eyeballs, and traces of chasing and fleeing were densely drawn on the wall facing the entrance. Drawn figures sought expressive and fragmented yet continuous flow of time/sequence through concrete number letters floating throughout the space.
Without having an expressive hand, I drew directly onto the walls, carefully building up the structure numbers and image. Because the scale exceeded my body, I attached conté, graphite and gauze to long poles in order to draw across the space. Fragmented surfaces, interrupted lines, and numbers establish relationships between dispersed images and generate an underlying visual order. The inflammation referenced in the title is a protective response of the body but is also known as recurring cycles of pain and recovery. Although rooted in personal experience, the work visualises finding balance between inner disorder and structure.
